International Commission on the Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training (ICAPA)
The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA: http://www.iias-iisa.org/iasia/) in cooperation with the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) established the International Commission on the Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programs (ICAPA) in Brussels, Belgium in 2012 (http://www.iias-iisa.org/iasia/about-iasia/ciapa-commission-on-international-accreditation-of-public-administration-education-and-training-programs/).
From June 9 to 12, 2015, ICAPA members visited the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University-Newark Campus in New Jersey, USA for a site visit. ICAPA site visit team members were the following persons: Professor Allan Rosenbaum, Florida International University, USA, ICAPA Chair; Professor Pan Suk Kim, Yonsei University, Wonju Campus, South Korea, ICAPA member; Professor Jerry Kuye, University of Pretoria, South Africa, ICAPA member; Professor. Polya Katsamunska, University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria, ICAPA member; and Ms. Rachel Emas, Florida International University, USA, Executive Director of ICAPA.
They visited the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University-Newark; reviewed the Self-Assessment Report for international accreditation for three programs including MPA and PhD in Public Administration as well as the Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program; and met various stakeholders including SPAA faculty, students, university administrators (chancellor and vice chancellor), administrative staff, alumni members, and other related stakeholders. http://patimes.org/rutgers-pa-school-receive-intl-accreditation/. http://www.newark.rutgers.edu/news/spaa-first-us-school-receive-international-accreditation-public-administration-programs.
The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA; Dean Marc Holzer) at Rutgers University has developed the Public Administration Gateway. The Public Administration Gateway is now available online. A free, comprehensive resource portal for public administration, public policy and public affairs. The datasets of the Public Administration Gateway are accessible at the site, https://pagateway.newark.rutgers.edu/. PA Gateway provides links to extensive collections of library resources, research portals, archives, historical documents, journals, books and more.
In September of 2014, ICAPA initiated the first international accreditation for the graduate programs of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV: http://ebape.fgv.br/en) in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), founded in 1944, is a renowned center for quality education dedicated to promoting Brazil's socioeconomic development and public administration.
